Interlaken, Switzerland is home to some of the best extreme sports anywhere.  Despite a very brief stay, I managed to take part in mountain climbing, bungee jumping, and white water rafting.  It cost me a small fortune since everything in Switzerland is expensive.  However, I had saved up money in anticipation of this and was not about to miss out on the opportunity of a lifetime. Interlaken is home to the world's highest buungee jump at 590 feet. The cost is about $140, but is well worth the adrenaline rush.

Below: The bungee jump involves riding up in what resembles a large ski lift.

only minor injuries (i.e. me smacking my head on a fallen tree and taking a few rocks to the abdomen).

Later in the summer I had a brush with death involving Interlaken. My cousin and I were very close to heading to Interlaken again for some canyoning. This is a sport in which people literally jump their way down the mountain using narrow pools of water. The day we would have gone 17 people died canyoning in Interlaken. A rainstorm prompted officials to "open the floodgates," which in turn drowned the unsuspecting canyoners.
